To make a booking via the internet

To make an internet booking, please fill in the email form under the relevant holiday that you would like to book for. By clicking the send button you acknowledge that you have read, agree to and will bide by these conditions. To make a manual bank transfer, a faxed copy of the transfer must reach us within 7 (seven) days of booking (or within 48 hours if less than 8 weeks from your departure date). Please call us for our banking details. You will then be emailed your copy receipt and booking details. No booking is accepted by us and no agreement exists until the date shown on the receipt.

To make a booking with the form included with the brochure

Fill and sign the booking form and post or fax it back to us. By signing the form, you acknowledge that you have read, agree to and will bide by these conditions. Payments can be made via a manual bank transfer. Please call or email us for our banking details. Then fax the copy of the transfer to us within 7 (seven) days of booking (or within 48 hours if less than 8 weeks from your departure date). We will then post or email your copy receipt and booking details. No booking is accepted by us and no agreement exists until the date shown on the receipt.

Terms of Payment

A 50 percent non-refundable deposit is payable with booking unless you are booking less than eight weeks from departure, when the full amount must be paid immediately.

The balance of payment must reach us not later than 8 (eight) weeks from departure.

Payments can be made via a direct bank transfer. Please call or email us for banking details.

Cancellation

You may cancel your booking more than eight weeks before the departure date, you will then forfeit your deposit.

If the balance of payment is not received by the due date we reserve the right to cancel your booking, retain the deposit you have paid and levy a cancellation charge as follows :

less that 14 days 100 percent
27 - 14 days before departure 80 percent
56 - 28 days before departure 50 percent

If your reason for cancellation falls within the terms of your holiday insurance, you will be able to claim these charges back.

We will not cancel your holiday within the eight weeks prior to departure unless :

1) you have not paid the full balance by the due date (cancellation charges as above will apply).
2) we have received less than 5 (five) paid bookings for your holiday.
3) due to circumstances beyond our control the holiday cannot proceed.

If we cancel (due to point 2 or 3 above) or significantly alter an important element of your holiday, within the eight week period prior to departure, we will offer an alternate date or full refund. Please note that some airlines and travel agents practice a non-changeable, non-transferable policy.

Our Responsibilities

1) We will exercise due diligence in making arrangements for you and ensure that the services are of a reasonable standard.
2) We will not misrepresent the services offered.
3) We will be held responsible for proven acts of negligence by ourselves, our agents, suppliers or sub-contractors acting within the scope of their employment.
4) We will only accept responsibility for physical injury or loss, death, loss or damage to personal belongings if it results from proven negligence on our part as defined under South African law.

Our Guarantee

We guarantee that the price of your holiday will not increase once we have confirmed your booking unless :
1) as a result of government action or
2) the Rand/Pound exchange rate drops more than 5 percent.

Should the exchange rate drop by more than 5 percent then you will only pay the amount over 5 percent. If the price increase is more than 12 percent then you will be entitled to cancel your holiday with full refund of all monies paid.

You will be informed via a surcharge invoice if there are any changes and we must be informed within fourteen days of this invoice if you want to cancel.

Your Responsibilities

1) It is your responsibility to ensure that your passport is valid for a period of 6 (six) months AFTER you leave South Africa. Although very few countries require a visa to visit South Africa, it is still advisable to consult with your consulate about visa requirements, and if needed obtain one.
2) It is your responsibility to inform us of any medical condition, dietary requirements, ailments or allergies in writing/via email at the time of your booking.
3) It is your responsibility to ensure that your travel arrangements coincide with our itinerary as supplied to you, by us, with your booking confirmation. Our departure times, places and dates are fixed by our suppliers and cannot be changed. It is your responsibility to get to the final destination if you have missed our planned transport.
4) Although no strenuous activities are planned on our holidays, any holiday has it's hazards. With this understanding you undertake to follow our advice, that of our representatives, guides and hoteliers, especially with regard to game drives. You also undertake to follow the country code of conduct and act sensibly and prudently at all times. You agree to indemnify us from all loss and/or damage arising from any act of default on your part.

Holiday Insurance

It is a condition of our holidays that you take out holiday insurance and inform us in writing/via email of the details before you arrive in South Africa. The cover must include medical and personal accident insurance as well as repatriation back to your country of origin. If taken out at the time of booking, this will provide cancellation cover from that date.

Liability

The Paint Basket cannot accept responsibility for any loss of enjoyment due to failure to read information supplied by ourselves or for any loss or damage to your luggage or personal property.

Alterations to Bookings

We reserve the right to alter the itinerary during the course of the holiday, at any time and for any reason, according to force majeure, weather or any other considerations.

Complaints

Any complaints you may have while on one of our holidays must be brought to the attention of The Paint Basket staff only. Failure to notify one of The Paint Basket staff at the time, thus providing us with a reasonable opportunity to rectify the cause of the complaint, will result in your loss of any legal rights in respect of the particular matter. Should we be unable to resolve the problem locally, written details must be received at our office within seven days of your return.
