Dennis L. Clark

The Torbay Studio is headed by Dennis L. Clark. Dennis established the Freeway Park Art Studio during 1987. His studio was originally situated in the gold mining town of Boksburg, just outside Johannesburg, South Africa. From here he ran his very successful and popular teaching studio for over 20 years He has since immigrated to New Zealand and now operates his studio from Torbay, Auckland.

Through techniques developed and honed from a lifetime of painting and drawing, Dennis has developed a unique painting style. A style that enables even rank beginners to paint excellent quality paintings from the word go. Some of the countries that Dennis has paintings hanging in include U.S.A. , U.K. , Germany, Japan, Australia, Israel etc. Closer to home, Dennis is constantly invited to exhibit, demonstrate and lecture on his painting style.

In October 1998 he changed the name to The Paint Basket with the aim of modernising the studio's image and enabling the studio to go national. During 1999, the studio was awarded Full membership to the Franchise Assoc. of South Africa (FASA). The first franchised studio opening up in a neighbouring town, Brakpan, a short while after.

Dennis gives oil painting and watercolour classes as well as holding pencil drawing and pastel drawing seminars.
