Most people complain that they cannot paint abstract paintings because they have trouble visualising what it should look like.

There are however some ways to help you do just that:

1) Think Laterally, eg., HAPPY = Carnival = Jugglers = Crowd = Cheering
2) Use close-ups & Textures
3) Use Metaphors, eg., POWER = Strong water currents = Polititians = Lightning
4) Use colours to describe emotions (Click HERE for more on this)
5) Morph (Blend) objects together
6) Use Repetition & simplify regular objects
7) Changes colours to unusual ones
8) Push, Pull & Twist usual objects to form new ones
9) Use creative techniques like soap on water to create abstract patterns
10) Use creative painting techniques like splatter & throwing paint onto canvas.

Here are some abstract pictures, try and figure out how they where conceptualised, then click on them to find out.
